Location-
Thornton is a suburb of
the Denver metropolitan area, in Adams County, which is consistently
ranked as one of the most desirable places to live in the country! It
is located on a high ridge about 10 miles north of downtown Denver
giving residents beautiful views of the mountains, neighboring cities
and valleys. It’s also close to Interstate 25 and the Denver
International Airport.

Recreation- Thornton was
named for the governor Daniel Thornton. Construction of the new city
began in 1953 on a ridge almost 500 feet higher than any of the
surrounding areas.

Thornton’s location provides an excellent environment for cultural,
recreational and outdoor enthusiasts. Thornton offers easy access to
the 28 major resort areas found in the nearby Rocky Mountains which
offer skiing, hiking, rafting and camping as well as beautiful scenery.
Cultural activities include museums, gardens, the opera and symphony in
Denver and other nearby communities.
Thornton also is home to
two recreation centers and an 18-hole golf course. There are eight
major universities and colleges within a 45 mile radius of the
community.
