Location-
Erie is located about 20
miles north of Metro Denver and 15 miles from Boulder. Lafayette,
Louisville, and Longmont are located within minutes of Erie. It’s a
growing community with a population estimated to be around 6,500
residents over six square miles. The 119-acre Tri-County airport is
located within Erie’s borders and serves Erie, Weld and Adams counties.

History-
Erie was incorporated in 1874 which was several years before Colorado
became a state. Erie was one of the earliest communities settled in the
area, which was around 1867 by the Reverend Richard Van Valkenburg, a
Methodist pastor who named the town after his hometown in Erie,
Pennsylvania. Erie was strongly tied to the mining industry.
Recreation- Erie is located
within an hour of several ski resorts, and the Rocky Mountain National
Park is less than an hour away for hiking, biking, mountain climbing,
white-water rafting, bird watching, and of course skiing. Erie has its
own public golf course that opened in 2002, and there are other
numerous golf courses within 15 miles of Erie.
For the sports fan in
your family, sporting events are located in Denver, which is 30 minutes
from Erie. They don’t have far to go to cheer for their favorite
Colorado professional sports teams.
