Location-
Brighton is located in
Adams County between Highways
I-76 and 85 on Highway 7 northeast of downtown Denver. Brighton has a
small town atmosphere with a rich cultural and historic roots that
makes Brighton an ideal place to live, work, and play.

History-
Brighton began as Hughes Station named after John Hughes who owned the
stage line between Denver and Cheyenne. Daniel F. Carmichael purchased
240 acres at Hughes Station from the Denver Pacific Railroad and by
1882, owned 720 acres. Carmichael thought that there should be a town
in the splendid valley, so he asked his wife, who in-turn named
Brighton after her birthplace Brighton Beach, New York. The City of
Brighton was incorporated on July 26, 1887.
Recreation- Brighton
offers 14 parks with playgrounds, drinking fountains, gardens, tails,
restrooms, athletic fields, open play areas, and plenty of picnic
areas. Brighton is also home to two sports complexes: Brighton Sports
Complex which offers adult softball complex with four, lighted fields
for night games, snack bar, drinking fountains, lighted playground,
shelter, picnic tables, benches, parking lot, and scenic views. The
other sports complex is Youth Sports Complex which includes four
baseball fields, restrooms, snack bar, picnic tables, drinking
fountain, and a parking lot. The four trail areas are Brighton Memorial
Parkway, Fulton Ditch Trailhead, North Outfall Trail, and South Platte
River Trailhead, all that provide many hours of fun for hiking and
biking.
